Shopify
Headless channel, the public Storefront token, markets and currency, and the checkout domain — the Shopify side of a Shop Canvas store.
Headless means Shopify manages the products and checkout while Framer displays the storefront. The public Storefront token lets Shop Canvas read the catalog and create a cart. The step-by-step version is step 02 of the guide.
Headless channel
Install Shopify’s Headless channel if it is missing. Use the Shopify admin search to find it, then open a storefront or choose Add storefront. Products must be Active and published to that channel (Publishing → Manage) to appear in the storefront.
Public Storefront token
Open the storefront’s Storefront API access settings and find the PUBLIC access token. That is the only credential that goes in the plugin or on your site. Never put a private token, Admin token, app secret or password there. A permission error is not a reason to use a private or Admin token; ask the store owner for sales-channel access instead.
If you made your own Shopify app for the store, its Client ID and secret (or an older Admin API access token) go only on shopcanvas.ai/account/link-store, signed in to your Shop Canvas account. Shop Canvas uses them to create or read the public Storefront token, and the plugin never asks for them.
Permanent domain
In Shopify → Settings → Domains, find the permanent address ending in .myshopify.com. Use that address in the plugin, even if you have a custom domain.
Markets and currency
The Connect screen asks for the two-letter country code you want to sell into, such as US, GB or AE. Check it yourself—the current plugin defaults to AE. Prices and availability resolve for that market through Shopify Markets.
- If everything says sold out, check stock, variant availability and the selected market. For physical goods, also check shipping coverage: a market with no shipping zone returns zero availability for that country.
- If the price or currency is wrong, check the Connect country and Shopify Markets; then reconnect, resync and regenerate the snippet together.
Checkout domain
Your main domain belongs on Framer. A checkout subdomain can belong on Shopify. For example: yourbrand.com → Framer, checkout.yourbrand.com → Shopify. A custom checkout domain is optional. The launch checklist covers DNS, verification and the return-to-store links.
Test orders
A successful redirect is only a handoff check. Before accepting sales, complete a controlled test order using Shopify’s documented test-payment flow; confirm order records and, for digital products, file delivery.
Runtime
The small piece of code that makes the storefront work — what it is, which version, and where it lives in your project.
Field map
Every field the catalog sync writes into your Framer CMS collection, what it holds, and which Shopify value it comes from — including the two encoded strings that drive variants and variant imagery.
